I was in the Navy in South Africa. Common was the term ''hurry up and wait", as was also the case in the various armed forces. What it meant was that the officers in charge would always rush us to go somewhere (we never knew where) as if we are under attack, just to end up waiting at the truck (vehicle) or in the truck... sometimes for hours.
I am having the same experience again. This time it is dealing with the South African Government departments. I am busy moving to the UK and i need certain docs, forming part of administrative and legal procedures, to be carried out by these departments . They have been asking for info etc from me (which i was rushed to provide) just for them to drag there feet - i am told, i could have it either tomorrow, next week, next month, 3 months from now, six months from now. It is driving me crazy!
